Sound & Vision Workshops
The Sound & Vision Group has offered an audiovisual course specially for kids and teenagers since 2012. The aim of the course, which is run in partnership with Basel Music School, the City of Basel Music Academy and K’Werk Bildschule bis 16 (part of the Schule für Gestaltung Basel), is to encourage educational projects at the interface of image and sound and forge long-term cooperation.
The mostly one-week workshops give children and adolescents the opportunity to design audiovisual 'products', from idea through to implementation. It can be a computer game, a shadow play, a singing cuddly toy or something else entirely. Over the course of the week, they learn the manual skills and know-how to see their project through to the end: from programming to sound design through to sculpture, electronic music production, sewing and soldering.
The learning content of the workshops and courses mirrors the needs and interests of kids, while offering them the freedom to experiment with images and sound.
In 2018, the Sound & Vision Group was crowned the winner of the Association of Swiss Music Schools 'Best Practice Models' competition.
